Sky-diver

On Saturday at dawn, Savvas went to jump from the plane with a parachute, I went to pray that it opens :P It looked so much fun! The tiny plane took well about 20 minutes to take him up to 9000 feet and it was barely visible from the ground. And then a tiny dot appeared around the plane and was coming quite fast down! F... , last minute I messed up with the camera settings and I managed to take less pictures than I wished :(.
Signing the last will :P
It was in a tiny, private airport 100km from Athens, Ikaros, in the middle of nowhere, in the Elliniki Aeroporiki Akadimiia, http://www.skydivegreece.gr. The guys there were fun and we also met a very nice guy, instructor who drove us from Athens there and then also were lucky to get a ride back with a very friendly couple.

The Acropolis Museum

After seeing life broadcasting from the opening on TV (!!) we went to check the place ourselves and I must say the building is really impressive. To see plastic imitations of parts of Parthenon that are still in the British Museum - sad.

Athens

Gazi - industrial area, where we went to see the Bodies exhibition (amazing!)

The Omonia Square - the very centre of Athens

Thunderstorm of the year

I have not seen such a huge thunderstorm here. Thunders and lightnings kept crossing the sky for almost all the night and it rained like hell. The power was cut for a while, and since I had nothing better to do I ducked behind the window and was shooting pictures. Out of over 40 that I took I managed to catch some lightnings.
This AMAZING one was taken by Teo Karanikas (http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=logo#/photo.php?pid=1937288&id=687958750)

Thessaloniki garbage free!

I have never felt so much joy to see garbage collecting company as yesterday! Finally back in service. The city was drowning in piles of stinking garbage everywhere, a walk was impossible, due to repulsive odours.Ouff.

Kras(h) Air

Kras Air - sounds like CRASH Air!! Hahahah, this is a pic taken by Savvas at the airport in Thessaloniki. Apparently the airlines did not hire a professional brand advisor. Here votes are welcome: http://cheezburger.com/view.aspx?ciid=4433385

it stinks!

Apparently municipality services responsible for waste removal are on strike or something and garbage has not been picked up for 3 days now. It stinks!! Are we gonna have the Sicilly problem in Thessaloniki?

Riddle

How is a bike ride with a bunch of people better that a party with a bunch of people?
At the former, if you do not want to talk to someone you just slow down or speed up, no need for 'I need to go to the bathroom' or 'I need a drink' excuses to get out from a boring conversation :P

Kalamaria

This part of Kalamaria I discovered 2 days ago - this place is only 8 km from the centre of Thessaloniki and so different.

Out for productivity

I was so unproductive today at home and so sleepy due to low pressure, that I had to come out and go to a lively place, like a cafe, to 1) get a coffee 2) do any work. It helped :)

Cycling trip to Limni Kerkinis

On Sunday went with a cycling group around the Kerkinis lake, just next to the boarder with Bulgaria. 6.30 wake-up wass worth the amazing views, birds, pigs, horses, bufallos, fresh air and picnic (real bio food!). It was organized by a guy from the bikerespect.gr - Cycling Tours Town and Out.

This stork caught and ate a snake just in front of us:
Who knows what this is? I ate about 1/4 kilo of this from the tree:P
