Saturday chillout & workout

The ride started so early (8.00) that when we reached Peraia - almost all cafeterias were still closed. In the only one that wasn't we were the first customers.

Present

That is my brand new cycling gear - a present from Savvas :) It breathes, makes the bum comfy even when riding for hours, antibacterial, antisweat etc (no, it does not cook :P).

Tiny earthquake

Yesterday early evening my house shook: a bit, twice. It was so weird and I got so scared. Apparently it was just a tiny earquake far from here and apparently I overreacted, but I had never felt ground shake under my feet.

Hot hot

Such a hot sunday that due to the heat there was noone on the roads. We anchored at midday at Pastaflora for a chilled frappe and some shade. Impossible to do anything that requires any effort :P

Old market

I've mentioned before that I like going to the old market for fruit and veg. It has all sort of stuff, including things I wonder if anyone ever buys (Mother of Jesus with a plastic flashing heart, fake mobile phones) and shops that I wonder if make any income, but are always busy. Like this one that I go to for household items - a really retro place, with an old guy at the counter, and weirdest items one can think of, so cheap that intimidating.
Although clerks are shouting praising their fish or meet (do people still do these jobs??) there is no way to convince me to buy these from there. I have MAJOR hygiene concerns!iThis part of the market remains only a folklore not a source of supplies.

Ianos bookstore in Aristotelous

Searching for a gift for a friend went to Ianos bookstore and got lost there for too long. Huge choice of books of all sorts, plus designer interiors, a place on the -1 floor to sit and read a book before buying. But did not find the book I wanted :( - Elif Shafak 'The Flea palace' - need to order from Amazon.uk

Go ride a bike

No, not a new bike store - optician's in Aristotelous square. Do not see the connection optician-cycling but nice anyway.

Sunday ride

60 km in the sun through beautiful meadows that smelled hay and summer. Nice :)

Finally connected 24/7

FINALLY FINALLY got myself a 24/7 internet connection = more time at home-office. I think I will not abandon completely working from cafes. It's nice to get out and see people around and hear city noises :)

Shared office

Yesterday ( and today) we worked with Savvas at a cafeteria - Cofix. Its very close to the beach, has decent wi-fi and were almost only customers during early afternoon hours. Quite productive day I must say :)

Pros and cons of veranda interactions

I have quite a quite a big veranda. And since I live in a very quiet, narrow street I face the verandas of my neighbours. Now in summer verandas become more lively, as everyone gets out of the house to enjoy the sun or cool, early-summer evenings. And so interactions with the neighbours become more frequent, which has pros and cons. Pros: nice to get to know the neighbours and have a small-talk. Cons: coming out in underwear is out of question and so is eating breakfast out in pyjamas :(

Weekend

On Saturday Went with Bikerespect for a ride to Peraia, 23 km from the center and it was a real summer ride. Very few people and many new faces but it was fun. Peraia is known for sandy beaches and restaurants in the sand, nice water for a swim and lots of cafeterias. We set off from the city centre and in 45 minutes we were in a holiday resort. No activities for the rest of the weekend, enough:P

And on SUnday we had a meeting of Bike Respect members in the Pasa Pak - a park with amazing view of the bay. After 4 hours under trees my oxygen levels sky-rocketed.

Reinforcement

I often meet my neighbours when carrying up or down my bicycle and wearing the outfit, helmet etc. (I live on the 3rd floor so indeed it is quite an effort to carry 16 kg that my bike weighs). And I love it when they see me and start praising sports : yes, that is great you are doing that, that is fantastic for health, bravo, you will be very strong and healthy etc etc. Hmm who are you trying to convince, people? I guess yourselves. I already know that, no need for reinforcement :)

Pursuit of dreams

It has been a year since I came to Thessaloniki! Happy anniversary to me :)) And it changed a lot. It was a pursuit of a dream to work from wherever I want and to live for some time in Greece. Now a friend of mine is making her dream come true and she and her fiancee are making a tour almost around the word on motorcycles.
Nice to implement dreams:D

Girls talk

I miss having a girl-friend to talk to here, although it can't compare to talking to my best friend in Poland. All I know are guys and some girls that do not show much interest in getting more friendly.

1 May

A trip to Flwrina was a nice and lazy beginning of May.
Jeżu, specjalnie dla Ciebie jest też zdjęcie z właścicielem zielonej bluzki (jak widzisz, ma w szafie tez inne kolory:P)

Almost all the pictures are from Savvas. Mine are not presentable due to creativity crisis. Even the below one, which I like a lot was not taken by me :(
