Platres in Troodos

Went this weekend with friends to Platres in the Troodos Mountains (just an hour drive). It was very refreshing and the views are stunningJ. There is still snow and seemed that the whole Nicosia came to a small square below the Olympus to catch the last moments of the white. This included buses full of Sri Lankan, Philipino and India house maids who had their day off and came to see the snow for first time in their life. All restaurants in the neighboring villages stuffed with people and traffic on the usually deserted, small mountain roads was terrible. There were people occupying every single inch of the white. Meanwhile, on the low land it was 21 degrees Celsius. The Olympus Mountain is 1951 m high, which was high enough to be above the clouds seeing the villages already in the darkness down there on the way back.
