As of March Cyprus is introducing the Pin&Pay – chip payment program. It is a system of payment by credit/debit cards that requires entering a PIN code by the card owner.. It used to be the case only for credit cards. From now on, also debit cards users will need to enter the PIN instead of signing a receipt.
I feel a kind of relief, because I did not feel usage of cards was really safe. Not that probability that anyone would steal my card and misuse is high, but still.
The reason is NOONE NOWHERE checks here if the signature on a card matches the signature on a receipt. The moment they swipe it through the terminal they give it back without even looking at the signature.

Hola Agata!
Katy
